It will take a typical modem about 2 minutes to load up all the images on this page. Once they are uncompressed by your browser, they will use up about 6.25 Mbytes of memory in your browser software.

As a special note, when navigating about this page, it is best to avoid using the "Foward" and "Back" buttons available in your browser as they will more than likely cause the images from the book to be mis-aligned on the screen. Instead, use the "Turn The Page" links you see at the bottom of each image. Also, if you decide you are done browsing through the book at any time, use the "I'm Done" link to return here and then the "Go Back" link from here to return to whatever page sent you here.

In part I of our People series, “Grandpa, Is Everything
Black Bad?”, Montsho questioned the goodness of his
black skin because he saw so many black things in his life
that were bad; bad guys on TV wore black, black cats
brought bad luck, people wore black to funerals and so on.
Montsho then learned of his proud heritage from his
Grandfather whose wise words and magical drum helped
Montsho to identify himself with his African heritage.
At the end of “Grandpa, Is Everything Black Bad?”,
Montsho asked his Grandfather whether white people
had a heritage too? His grandfather replied, “We all do.”
So, Montsho’s lesson continues as he learns that “We All
Have A Heritage”. Join Montsho as his Grandfather
introduces him to the world...

red, brown, yellow, purple or blue.

All of us have a history
where people did great things.
And, most of us come from countries
where there were once Kings and Queens.

We all have ancestors
who lived a long time ago.
Some, we may remember,
and some we may not know.

We all have special traditions
and a place from whence we came,
And, people from the past
gave must of us our last names.

We all have a heritage, yes this is true.
It doesn’t matter if your skin is black,
white, yellow, brown, red, purple or blue.
We all have special languages
so that we can all speak,

And everyone celebrates holidays
that make certain days unique.
We all eat delicious foods
prepared in various ways,

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

And all cultures have music
to help us dance through the days.
We all have traditional clothes
that honor our rich roots.

And, many cultures have musical instruments,
like drums, guitars, or flutes.
We all have a Heritage,
yes this is true.
It doesn’t matter if your skin is black,
white, yellow, brown, red, purple, or blue.

And did you know...
If you travel around the world,
you can see all sorts of things?
Because all cultures make special items
and have talents that they bring.

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

Whether we travel to the North, to the South,
the East, or the West,
We can all explore our Heritage
and see the world at its best.

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

You might learn certain customs
to tell you how things are done,
Or, you could see different activities
that are done just for fun.

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

We all have a Heritage,
yes this is true.
It doesn’t matter if your skin is black,
white, yellow, brown, red, purple or blue.
Do you know what else is amazing
about you and me too?

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

Do you know what else is amazing
about you and me too?
Even though we may be different colors
with different looks on our faces,

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

We are all still just human beings
who happen to come from different places.
We can learn about each other
and the different things we do,

<==Turn the page       I'm Done       Turn the page==>

And we can share what we have in common,
both in me and in you.
Because, we all have a Heritage,
yes this is true.
It doesn’t matter if your skin is black,
white, yellow, brown, red, purple or blue.

<==Turn the page       I'm Done

By sharing our Heritage with each other,
we can learn from the start...
How to respect different people
and keep love in our hearts.
